Ice Truck Killer Nails

Happy Halloween everyone!

My mom and I went to Ikea in Ottawa today so as soon as I got home I raced to get these nails done.  My best friend called me while I was there and told me I had to do the Ice Truck Killer nails from Dexter.  So voila!  This is for you Nicole ;)

I decided to add on a little blood splatter.  Unfortunately I still can't do the splatter technique so its placed on with a dotter.  I had to use my camera phone for this but it gave me the opportunity to give the photo a spookier look.

Haunted House Nails

Happy Halloween Eve Everyone

Hope all you east coasters are doing well.  We had really high winds and some rain here but that's about it.  The power went off some places around town but I was lucky.  The sky is not looking so promising today though.

I have my second Halloween themed mani for you. The outcome was not quite what I had in mind but I had fun trying.  I love playing around with the pin technique!
I used two coats for the base then added random dots all over and very quickly.  Then I took my pin and created the swirls.  Obviously the haunted house is a stamp.  I thought that I would add a bit of black to my tips to create the ground.  Wishing I hadn't now or maybe if I had made them straight lines instead.

Oh well, hope you like ;)

Born Pretty Review: Double Sided Stamper and Water Decals

Hi All

I'm slowly coming around and getting back to my normal self.  I'm very tired (and disappointed) though.  Oh well c'est lat vie!

Today I have another Born Pretty review for you.  I chose to test both the double sided stamp with scraper and butterfly water decals.

I'm happy to say the double sided stamper worked wonderfully. I did have to rough it up a bit first with my emery board.  The scraper I chose not to use.  I prefer using an old gift card to prevent scratching my plates.

I was a little quick to apply the top coat as seen on my middle finger.  This had nothing to do with the stamp though

The butterfly water decals took a little more skills.  It took me a couple tries to get it just right.  With time and practice I'm sure it will get easier. As you can see I this one is not a butterfly but it is from the same sheet.

Pardon the pictures.  I had to take these inside. Does anyone have any more tips as far as taking indoor pictures? I've made my light box but the pictures still look like very bad quality. Drives me nuts

31 Day Challenge: Inspired by a Movie

Morning all!

So I went  3 days of no posts! I'm feeling pretty darn guilty about it too.  My plan was to dedicate a lot of my time yesterday to my nails and take pictures.  That didn't work out. :(
I had a seizure yesterday(I have epilepsy) and that pretty much screws me for the rest of the day.  My body was so sore and worn out.  Were talking barely able to move.  My mom took care of me for awhile so that really helped. I still have an insanely bad headache tonight and my neck hurts like hell.
I'm not sure what will happen these next couple days as far as posts.  The weather is still extremely dark for photos and I'm having troubles looking down to see my nails.  Fun stuff eh?!

On to the nails....Finding Nemo!!!! Yayyyy  Can you guess what nail is based on which character?

Dotted Chevrons

Happy Hump day everyone!  It's all down hill from here!

Today I have some more dots for you.  I'm loving doing the itty bitty dots lately.  It's very relaxing for me so I  hope you don't get tired of seeing them.  My only opportunity lately is to take pictures on the weekend. To think the days are only going to get shorter from here is kind of scary.  I keep on forgetting to bring my camera to work for lunch time photos so a lot of mani's have gone unseen.

This time I decided to make a chevron type design with my baby dots.  The full nail is in Revlon's 'Impulsive'...I believe.  Not quite sure about the dots.  I just pulled out some randoms

Candy Corn Nails

Good Morning Ladies

I decided to jump on this Halloween nail art bandwagon.  I actually did these a couple weeks ago but thought it was too soon to post.  Halloween is a week away now so I figured I'd get crackin' on spooky nails.  These aren't very spooky but they are pretty darn cute! I've seen so many candy corn nails recently.  Although I hate candy corn I love the nail art inspired by it!

For this look I used the obvious orange, yellow and white.  I decided it needed a matte top coat.  It gave the nails a much more realistic look. Julep sent this candy corn in the October box so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to hold them in the photo.

Hope you guys like it!

31 Day Challenge: Inspired by Song 'Sexy and I Know It'

'I'M SEXY AND I KNOW IT'

I think most people around the world know this song.  Even before this challenge I wanted to do nails inspired by one of LMFAO's songs.  There outfits are crazy colourful and I knew I could do a lot with it.  Most of all though they are my little nearly two year old nephew's favourite band.  He's been shaking his baby booty to there songs before he was even a year.  You always know he wants to listen to the song when he walks around going 'ah, ah'. He's pretty freakin cute!

My index finger is the box head guy. Not really sure what his position in the band is other than the box head.  I used glitter for the middle of his eyes to represent the red lights.  I had to look at still photos for the the skimpy speedo swimsuits.  It was a great time to pull out my studs for the red pair.  The leopard was a little more tricky as far as the colours and effect.  I used my Essie 'Shine of the Times'  to bring out the pinkish sheen to the speedos.   I went through the video looking for some inspiration for my pinky but could not find anything else that really stood out.  Finally I figured I would use the white sunglasses.  It meant using more studs!!

Hope you guys like it. It was a lot of fun to recreate!

31 Day Nail Challenge: Water Marble

Hi All! Hope your having a nice relaxing Saturday.

I'm very much overdue on my water marble challenge.  This attempt was one quarter successful.  I'm not very impressed though.   It's time to put away the filtered water and tape for awhile.  When there is no pressure to do water marble I don't mind giving it at try.  This time I wanted to face punch it!!! ;oP

It wouldn't really be fair if I didn't post it so here ya go.  I think the polish ended up being to think on the surface so that's why some parts are a little smushy.

31 Day Challenge: Inspired by a Colour

The very first colour that popped into my head was green.  I thought to myself 'what is the most beautiful green thing I've seen?'....well my eyes of course!  Don't you just love me?! :oP

I wanted to do something a little fun and goofy.  Cartoonish eyeballs it was.  For the base I used Revlon's 'Posh'.  I'm close to finishing this bottle.  The colour is beautiful so I think I may have to pick up another bottle soon.  My eyes change shade depending on the day or what I'm wearing.  I pulled out a couple different green's and went from there.

It was yet another cloudy day for pictures.  I find when it is clouded over I get the shiny top coat look.  I love shiny but not like this. Hopefully I will get some pictures in tomorrow.  Time to catch up on my water marble!

100th POST!!!

This is officially my 100th post! I can't believe it. When I started this I had no idea where it would go.  I'm so thankful to you all for following me and supporting me on this crazy adventure.
I would of never thought in a million years there would be so many people blogging about nail art.  I honestly have no idea how many blogs I follow myself. This can be a good and bad thing.  The good is soooo many beautiful nails and amazing people. The down side is I'm finding it hard to keep up with every ones daily posting.  Pretty much every time I refresh Blogger there are new posts.  I generally do my blogging in the morning(my time)  so I miss out on night time bloggers which really sucks!  Every now and then I do get a chance to go check them out thank goodness!

I thought I would just post some various designs I have done in the past.  I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and do my nails in a couple days.  Tonight I've made a date with my nails though.

Here is to another 100 posts!!

Last but not least the nails that started it all!

Thanks again everyone

Glitta Waves

I'd like to start off with a sorry to my fellow challengers.  Water marble is not going to happen today.  Hopefully I will have it sometime this week but time and sun has not allowed me to do it.

Instead I have a marblish type mani.  The stamp kind of gives that impression.  I started off with a blue base. Which one???...I have no clue. I do know however that it is the darker of the two colours.  The stamp is Bundle Monster BM205.  I used Sally Hansen's Insta Dri in 'Brisk Blue'.  I'd also like to point out that for once I didn't have to redo any nails!! Yahoo!!
I was kind of bored so I decided to add some glitter.  I used one of my many bottles I bought at Michael's.  I find strategically placing glitter is relaxing. Even though its fiddly I find it fun.  I wouldn't wear something like this myself but its so fun to do.

I had a second photo but when uploading it half the thing was grey.  Maybe another time :oP

Peace out folks!

Pink....meet blue tips!

Well it's the beginning of the work week. Booooooo.  Hopefully I make it through. The big boss is coming down on Wednesday and the possibility of me being laid off is 50/50. eeks!  Who is going to buy my polish then???? Best not to worry about it I guess.

So for this colourful french manicure I used my Julep polishes once again. I love their creams.  Amazing application.

I covered the full nail in Julep's 'Eva'.  I then used my favourite polish, 'Gunta' to do the tips.  This photo is kind of bright in colour.  They are both a little darker in real life.  I didn't use tape to keep the blue tips straight.  All good though, my trusty striping tape came to the rescue

I LOVE BRIGHT COLOURS!!!!

Stamped Chevron Tips

Well here I am sitting in my bedroom while all the boys hoop and holler at the TV.  I'm not a fan of Sunday football.  I'm going to take the opportunity to have a little fun and figure out pinterest and instagram.  I'm not too sure how I feel about instagram yet because I don't take nail pictures with my phone.  Seems like a lot of effort to send them to my phone then post. I could just be lazy though

On to the nails.  I wanted to do something with red and grey and this was the outcome.  I used two coats of Rimmel's 'Red Stilleto'.  I then taped off the chevron tip and painted with a no name Gosh grey. I then stamped with Bundle Monster BM203. I'm sure I used a Gosh polish for this as well.  I find most of the cream polishes work great for stamping.

31 Day Challenge: Galaxy Nails x2

I've been looking forward to this challenge.  Galaxy nails are all over the place and I understand why.....there soooo fun.  Don't get me wrong I still need plenty of practice.  I looked at a couple YouTube videos.  People use all types of different colours.  I tried out two of them.

It actually got quite messy for me and I had a hell of a time cleaning up the black polish

Which one do you guys prefer???

Make sure to check out the other ladies out of this world nails ;)

Dreaming of Mango Dots

Happy Friday World! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  Even though it was a short work week I'm so happy its almost over.

I have a little dotticure for you today.  I think I'm most impressed with the photo quality and sunlit nails.  My new-to-me camera did a wonderful job.  I'm still trying to get use to it and all the functions. I haven't been able to take a picture this nice since.  I'm blaming it on the cloudy sky.

I used two coats of Revlon's 'Dreamer' over the entire nail.  For the dots I used Revlon's 'Mad about Mango' and FingerPaint's black.  I like how striking black looks on lighter colours.

31 Day Challenge: Half moons

So half moons drove me soooo crazy that I just decided to post these that I've held on to forever.

I don't know what the deal was but every attempt bombed.   These nails are using the Orly FX Foil box.  I bought it at Sally Beauty for $2.50.  I figure that's good enough reason on its own to post them.

Promise to put more effort into my Galaxy nails

Forgive me?

Gunta Stamping

Hey Peeps!

Once again I have no half moon nails for you.  I hope I can get some pictures in tonight and post tomorrow.  Galaxy is Saturday which I'm so excited about.

So instead I have a little more vault action. These were only done about 2 weeks ago.  I had a lot of fun with them but was a little to quick with the top coat.  I always get so frustrated after doing a nice stamping job and screwing it up because I'm impatience.

I started off what I imagine to be Essie's 'Yogaga' as a base.  Then I used Julep's 'Gunta' to stamp Bundle Monster plate BM322.  I have to say that 'Gunta' is an amazing polish to stamp with.  This is my fav polish of the moment. I love it in every which way.  I then taped off my nails in a chevron shape(this was quite awhile after letting the stamp and top coat dry).  Using 'Gunta' again I filled in the designated areas :o)

Top coated it and voila

A Little Vault Action!

I'm going to be late on my 31 Day challenge....again.

I decided to show some of my mani's I was not to impressed with so they ended up in the vault.  Some of them are me just experimenting with different techniques.  Have no fear I will be posting my half moon nails at some  point today. For the time being enjoy my crazies

I didn't hate this one but I was not impressed with the quality of the art.  I like the sunlit pictures though.

This one is obviously me having a little crazy fun.  I couldn't resist buying these studs. I knew I wouldn't wear them in a manicure (remember I'm a picker) but how fun eh!  It would add an extra punch when flipping someone the bird!

I love the colours on this one but the lack of sharpness between the stripes drove me crazy. I should of slapped some striping tape on there
